Teachers teach though scientifically researched curriculum titled "Tools of the Mind", which promotes self-regulation, literacy and language development. The children are exposed to language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and music through play and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Our program is tailored to meet the individual learning needs of each child. in addition, a theme based curriculum is implemented in combination with the "Tools of the Mind" curriculum.
Assessments
All students will be screened at the beginning of the school year using the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESIR). Students will be assessed using a standards based report card that aligns with our state and curriculum standards. Social skills and work habits are evaluated on an on-going basis throughout the school year. Parent-teacher conferences are held in November and March. Report cards are sent home in January, March, and June.
"Get Ready to Read!" is a screening tool 25-question assessment that is administered to our students in the PM session in October and May. It measures how a child is progressing toward acquiring the knowledge and skills that lead to successful reading. Results are utilized to target early literacy experiences in the classroom.
